The correlation among body fat distribution, lipid and glucose metabolism and blood pressure in healthy persons

Abstract:

Objective

To evaluated the correlation among body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio (WHR), waist-height ratio (WHtR), hip-height of the healthy and lipid and glucose metabolism, blood pressure.

Methods

One hundred and seven patients of healthy persons physical examination from January 2014 to May 2014 were enrolled.The correlation between BMI, WHR, WHtR, hip-height ratio and lipid and glucose metabolism, blood pressure was analyzed.

Results

The correlation coefficients of BMI and systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean arterial blood pressure (MAP), triglycerides (TG), cholesterol (CHOL), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL-c), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), gamma glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), fasting blood-glucose(GLU), fasting insulin (FINS), insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), insulin sensitivity index (ISI), β cell function (HOMA-β) in male were 0.26, 0.33, 0.32, 0.24, 0.25, 0.36, 0.18, -0.15, 0.38, 0.54, 0.61, 0.59, -0.59, 0.59, respectively.The correlation coefficients of WHR and the above indicators were 0.12, 0.25, 0.20, 0.43, 0.43, 0.48, 0.34, -0.15, 0.36, 0.43, 0.49, 0.55, -0.55, 0.40, respectively.The correlation coefficients of waist-height ratio and the above indicators were 0.32, 0.27, 0.24, 0.25, 0.34, 0.44, 0.22, -0.10, 0.30, 0.26, 0.59, 0.57, -0.57, 0.54, respectively.The correlation coefficients of hip-height ratio and indicators were 0.17, 0.20, 0.20, 0.03, 0.16, 0.26, 0.05, -0.03, 0.15, 0.04, 0.46, 0.41, -0.41, 0.46, respectively.The correlation coefficients of BMI and the above indicators in female were 0.21, 0.21, 0.30, 0.38, 0.13, 0.26, 0.27, -0.37, 0.49, 0.46, 0.55, 0.55, -0.55, 0.47, respectively.The correlation coefficients of WHR and indicators were 0.32, 0.17, 0.25, 0.38, 0.16, 0.04, 0.31, -0.02, 0.34, 0.15, 0.18, 0.15, -0.15, 0.2, respectively.The correlation coefficients of waist-height ratio and indicators were 0.27, 0.16, 0.23, 0.39, 0.16, 0.15, 0.30, -0.12, 0.46, 0.33, 0.39, 0.37, -0.37, 0.36, respectively.The correlation coefficients of hip-height ratio and indicators were 0.12, 0.10, 0.11, 0.30, 0.11, 0.23, 0.20, -0.31, 0.47, 0.45, 0.54, 0.55, -0.55, 0.47, respectively.

Conclusions

Compared with the other three anthropometric indices, the correlation of BMI and sugar metabolic disorder, elevated GGT are stronger and the correlation of WHR and TG, CHOL, LDL-C, VLDL-C are stronger in male.
