Abstract:

Objective

To analyze the ultrasonographic features of the breast mutinous carcinoma and results of molybdenum target mammography and improve the coincidence of the two kinds of imaging examinations.

Methods

The sonographic appearances and pathological features of breast mutinous carcinoma in 43 cases (a total of 44 lesions ) collected from the department of breast surgery of Changzhou Second People′s Hospital diagnosed by operation and pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Ultrasonic appearance such as lump quantity, size, boundary, shape, internal echo, rear echo, lump internal microcalcification or not, lump internal blood stream situation, oxter lymph nodes infiltration information were analyzed. Molybdenum target mammography examinations such as lump shape, boundary, density and calcification were recorded. Contrast analysis was carried out to analyze the diagnostic coincidence between ultrasonography and molybdenum target mammography.

Results

Among the 43 cases with mucinous carcinoma of breast, 35 cases′ preoperative ultrasonic diagnosis accorded with postoperative pathological diagnosis, ultrasonic diagnostic coincidence was 81.4% (35/43). 32 cases′ preoperative molybdenum target mammography accorded with postoperative pathological diagnosis, molybdenum target mammographic diagnostic coincidence was 74.4% (32/43). There was no statistically significants in diagnostic efficacy between the two examinations (χ2=0.61, P=0.43). Among the 43 cases with mucinous carcinoma of breast, 40 cases (93.0%, 40/43) were suspected malignant by ultrasonography or molybdenum target mammography. 26 cases (60.5%, 26/43) were suspected malignant by the both two examinations.

Conclusions

Both ultrasonography and molybdenum target mammography possess higher coincidence to diagnose breast mutinous carcinoma. Combining the two examinations can further elevate coincidence. If ultrasonography or molybdenum target mammography is suspected to maligmant, biopsy and histopathology should be performed to make a definite diagnosis.
