Abstract:
Objective To investigate the CT features and diagnostic value of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).
Methods Plain and contrast-enhanced CT features in 43 cases with GIST proved by surgery and pathology were analyzed.
Results The tumors originated from stomach (n=21), small bowel (n=15), colon (n=3), abenteric (n=2), liver metastasis(n=6). In benign GIST (n=8), the tumors appeared as clear boundary , homogenous density even after enhancement, and no necrosis cyst formation. In maligant GIST(n=35), the tumors were characterized by heterogeneous density, tendency to necrosis, markedly inhomogeneous enhancement after contrast.
Conclusion CT examination can contribute to evaluate the predilection site of GIST and judge its benign or malignancy, instructing clinical treatment and estimating prognosis.
