Abstract:
Objective To explore the clinicopathological features of serous borderline tumour with microinvasion(SBTM) in ovary.
Methods The clinical and pathologic findings of 10 patients with SBTM were evaluated.Hematoxylin and eosinstain, immunohistochemistry and histochemistry were performed on the archival paraffin sections.
Results Among the 10 patients, their age at the time of operation ranged from 22 to 68 years old.The epithelial cells showed mild to moderate atypical hyperplasia, and papillary(8 cases) or micropapillary(2 cases) formation.Individual cells or more cell clusters appeared in tumor stroma, and cytoplasm was eosinophilic. The tumor cells of 10 cases were all diffusely positive for CK7 and CAM5.2 with locally positive for CA125 and WT1.
Conclusions SBTM is a kind of low-grade malignant tumor, which is easy to be missed when the micro-invasive lesions is small.Due to possible recurrence, long-term follow-up is recommended.
