Respiratory diseases are characterized by high morbidity, high mortality and high economic burden, and some infectious diseases are also characterized by high infectivity, which has become a global health care and public health problem. Holistic integrated medicine (HIM), which emphasizes the organization of the most advanced theoretical knowledge and the most effective experience and practice in different fields of medicine, is the necessary direction of the development of modern medicine, and is more accorded with the new medical system in human health and disease treatment. The proposal of HIM brings opportunities for the development of respiratory medicine. This paper expounds the development background of HIM, the present situation of modern respiratory medicine, and the application of HIM in the development of respiratory subject from four aspects.
